Crochet Shawls

Crochet Shawl by Yolanda's Creations
Depending on your choice of style, this self-shaping rectangle shawl can be worked thick and warm for winter or delicate and lacy for a summer evening.  I started making these when I just feel in love with the way they could be worn and how they felt wrapped around me.
I have made others in the similar style but different colors and yarn.  Most of mine will measure approximately 52Lx14W.  It definitely will and can take about 5-6 skeins of yarn.

Depending on the yarn type you to make your shawl I would say not to machine dry.  You definitely can machine wash it in cold water and line dry or if you prefer the drier put it in for a very short period.

I also would dress it up with a wooden shawl pin.  All of mine I purchased at Lion Brand Yarn.  You can get them pretty much anywhere but I liked the ones I saw here and got most of mine from LB.
You can add fringes at the ends if you want to add more character to your shawls…my next one will have those (currently my ponchos all have fringes).

These are perfect for gifts as well.  It’s simple and practical and just pretty!

Color Like This...

yolandascreation.storenvy.comColor like this needs to be paid attention to...just sayin' (crochet shawl in Tangerine by Red Heart Soft Yarn).

I know that sometimes you can't even think of wearing something like this on a hot day...well I'm not insinuating that...I simply want you to focus on the color...that's right! This color is saying show me off.  This yarn I purchased at Michaels when of course Red Heart Soft goes on sale.  I will sometimes wait for these sales and stock up and then it takes me a while to create what I want. But hey it's better late then never.

Anyway this shawl can be worn as a wrap or even wrapped around the head like a scarf/cowl (sorry don't have a picture of that).  The pattern is a chain stitch pattern --very simple.

What I love about Red Heart Soft Yarn is just that it's SOFT.  This one here took 4-5 skeins for me to complete. But it was well worth it because it's a versitle accessory.

Have fun making your own or get mine that's already made visit my store.

Crochet V-Shape Shawls

I love wearing things that just make you look classy and sophisticated.  I started making these V-shape shawls recently just to give it a try and I ended up making a few.

They are actually pretty easy to do and I was surprised at how fast I was able to complete just one (hence making a couple in just 3 weeks).  I am not complaining at all trust me.

I actually started by using 2 skeins of yarn that I had left over (one of my favorite yarns Caron Simply Soft) and couldn't find this particular color in the store (picture below).  So I still managed to make what I wanted regardless.  I actually got what I really wanted with just 2 skeins.  See I have crochet items in the past and I have learned to always get an extra or two skeins of the same color just in case.  Well here I am using what I have left in my basket and managed to get what I wanted with just two ....LOVE IT!

I hope you like these...I definitely enjoyed making them and I am very proud of how they came out.

I have posted these on my online store take a look when you can yolandascreations.storenvy.com.

Crochet Shawl #2

white crochet shawl
with wooden shawl pin
I just finished this pretty crochet shawl in white.  I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, 100% acrylic yarn.  I used the same technique as before - 5 single crochet connect on the 4 and continue this same patter all the way until I reached my desired length.  These are a self-shaping rectangle shawl which can be worn thick and warm for winter or delicate and lacy for a summer evening.

I know I said I would add fringes at the end when I would finish my next one but I didn’t do it this time (I know!!).
