Neck Warmers for him or her....

I have been super busy creating so many things and I am finally back up to write you something about them.

I started crocheting these cool neck warmers (or some call them cowls).  I actually made them for my husband ...he was saying he didn't want to wear a bulky scarf to shovel snow.  So I saw something similar to this on Pinterest .  Once I measured, took apart, measured again (for my husband LOL) I finally got the hang of how to make these (my version that is).

I crochet these with soft acrylic yarn and of course these are UNISEX which I totally love!  They have the perfect stretch to it so it will fit a guy or a girl.

This neck warmer honestly didn't take a lot of yarn which was great for the leftover yarn I still had around I will recommend always to machine wash and dry (follow the instructions on the skein of yarn you use).

Crochet Cowls...

You know you see a lot of ideas when you look at magazines, online, shopping etc.  And I can tell you that this idea came from my friend one day when she said she would buy a cowl from me if I made them.  See here’s the thing…back then I had never heard of a cowl.  So when she showed me one she had but it wasn’t crochet or even knitted if was made of fabric I instantly said most definitely I can make one for her (and then some more).

So these here that I am showing you are not extremely long they were made to place on your head like a hat but the rest would drape your shoulders or you could wear it around your shoulders.  I haven’t venture since making these into making them longer so that they can go around twice or three times but you could make these go at least twice around your head.

I do plan on making more since several people have admired and received or purchased some from me.  I need be in the mood to make one of these.  My stitch pattern was simple it was a single crochet  (5 sc) and connect and I did this all the way around til I got to the width I wanted and continue in a circle. Ultimately the pattern will look like a diamond pattern if that makes sense (I hope).

I will tell you if you want to make one of these I suggest purchasing the Pound of Love yarn by Caron One Pound or even Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo.  I say this because it’s one big skein of yarn and you can get one of these done with just this one skein.  Other than that you definitely can do it with regular skeins however you might need (depending of the stitch you use) at 4 skeins of yarn.

Have fun making these…again keep in mind my stitch patterns are simple because I am pretty much self-taught on a lot of this.  Be adventuress.

Crochet Cowls

Crochet 1/2 Cowl/Shawl
color: taupe twists
These crochet creation came to me when someone at my previous job mentioned that she loved wearing cowls.  Now mind you I had no idea what this was! So as mentioned in my previous posts if something can be crocheted and I have no idea how or what it is I will find out.

Crochet Round Cowl
color: earth & sky
So I ventured to finding out what this was.  Totally fell in love with the concept and idea of making these and of course I can never just make one I made several.  And with anything it takes several to get several done right.  You can't imagine how many times I would start one and it wasn't the right size and I would take it apart and start all over.  Once I got the hang of it well then it was off to the races making them in several colors and styles.

I personally like the one with the shawl pin and yet the other style is pretty unique as well because you can wear it around your neck and shoulders or over your head.  So each person has it's own style to pick from.

The ones that I made that are one piece (round) these I crocheted in a single stitch (which is the blue one, acrylic yarn, color: earth & sky by Red Heart)   or the popcorn stitch (which is the 1/2 cowl one that you see here; acrylic yarn, chunky yarn by Bernat, color: taupe twists) both types of yarn purchased at AC Moore).

Stay tune for more of these ...we need to look fabulous and stay warm for the Fall and Winter this year.
