Creative PaperClips

I enjoy crafting.  When I discovered that I could do more with paperclips then hold papers I was coming up with all sorts of ideas.

My favorite one is gluing crochet flowers on colorful paperclips.  You can use it to hold papers and even better yet you can use it as a bookmark.  I like making these as simple or as funky as possible.

I purchased my colorful paperclips from Staples.  They had all of these colorful vinyl-coated metal jumbo clips in these small 3x3 boxes at the check out counter (purple, orange, yellow) I just had to buy them.

So I basically take my pretty crochet flowers, cut a piece of felt (I purchased mine at AC Moore they measure about 9x12)to match the dimension of the flower, use my hot glue gun (or you can use craft flue), I glue the clip on top of the felt piece then glue the flower on top.  I put something heavy on it to ensure it glues all the way.

Once you are done you are ready to use your creative paper clip.  Use for your own personal self of hand them out as a little gift at your next craft show. 

Have fun making these even with buttons.  Use the same concept as the crochet flower. Who ever said a paperclip has to be boring!

Crochet Hair Barrettes

Here's something that you can put together if you are good with a hot glue gun or even sewing.  I have a bunch of crochet flowers that I just make randomly from my leftover stash of yarn.  I would say the 'expensive' piece would be the actual clips. I purchased mine at Michaels. They come in a packet of 20...so in the long run it's not that expensive you know? (I have a picture of the clip...it's on a silk flower - same concept though).

Anyway, so depending on how long you want your barrette that's how you'd determine your flower size. You can also add bows if you want...I'm just making flowers for now. Some I have used a little dab of hot glue or I have sewn them on. I will say this much...I prefer to hot glue them. It can be a bit cumbersome trying to sew them on with the opening of the clip...but that's just me.

Now keep in mind also you can get very creative with these barrettes...add ribbon or even buttons to them to give them that unique look.

I feel that every last piece of yarn I have I want to make something pretty and creative and practical. So here's to more creative ideas with leftover yarn.

Crochet Pacifier Clips

I know you have seen several of these all over the place.  And I always say I appreciate a very detailed crochet creation.  I did see these once on a blog regarding using your leftover yarn.  And I love anything that I can make with leftover yarn (besides making pompoms).  So here is my version of pacifier clips (pacifier not included).

I used for these that I am showing Sugar and Cream Cotton Yarn but you can use any yarn you have at hand.  I chain a single crochet (4) and then I go around (from left to right and right to left) I then do double crochet all the way til I get about 10 inches long (the width is appx. 1/2in wide).  I then do a single crochet (22 sc) and connect it to create a loop.


I purchased mitten clips at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Amazon.com  I found plastic clips.  By all means use what you like and feel comfortable using. Once I got it to the length I needed I then sew the clip on the other end and you are all done.  You can attach flowers buttons whatever you feel you want to do to embellish it.  Hurray no more pacifiers on the floor or lost somewhere because you have clip them to your precious little ones outfit.  And trust me I love to color coordinate so pick a color that you want.  These are machine washable (line dry them is my suggestion).

These are perfect for baby shower gifts or just because.  Have fun making them.
