Crochet purses...

I am showing here some of my creations that my mother actually inspired me to make.  It all started with her saying to me I should use my beads (the ones I would use for making jewelry) and incorporate them in my crocheting.

Well what I thought I couldn’t do I ended up doing! Well not the adding of the beads to the purses but creating purses.  I really didn’t think much of it since I had just started to teach myself pretty much a lot of the crocheting techniques and of course my mother showed me a few as well. 

So I went to the extreme of researching for purse handles and of course I found that several online places sold them.  I totally was surprised honestly! Because I really didn’t think this was something I could find so easily.

So anyway, I found some at Joann’s and Yarnmarket.  Also, here is something else that my mother said I should do…line my purses on the inside with fabric.  I was like WHY? OMG…big difference when you do.  I was like ‘mom this means I have to sew!?’ she tells me yup!  And then she proceeded to say ‘it’s not like I didn’t teach you how to sew by hand and by machine.’  So of course I had to get my sewing techniques in order.

So here I go looking for more stuff for my creations…fabric!  This was fun to do because it opened up my eyes to checking quality and textures etc.  AC Moore , of course one of my favorite places, was selling these fat quarters for $1.00 and of course me not totally understanding  fully the measurements of what is what I would buy these for now to get me through my first couple of purses which believe it or not the fat quarters were perfect.  I would buy two of the same fabric and sew them along each side leaving one side open and I would iron it to make it look neat and clean and then sew it on the machine with the purse attached to it.  I would sew my handles and buttons first…sorry forgot to mention that in the beginning. 


Trust me when I tell you…when making these don’t stress yourself out…make what you want to make and just remember all the other details that need to get first:  crochet purse, crochet handles (if you are not going to use hard ones), sew your button(s) and then add the lining.

I have also added flowers on the outside and have labeled my creations with this fabric sheet that I actually printed off my printer. Just make sure you get the one that will be compatible to your printer.

Anyway, here are some of my creations and some that my mother has made as well.  As I create more I will post them here for you to look at see you soon.
