Yolanda's Kitchen Creations...Flank Steak Sandwich

Skirt Steak Sandwich

The items for this were so easy because I always have the majority of the items except for the steak.

This sandwich is a twist on my Cuban sandwich I guess.  I used the same type of bread and of course it’s toasty and super crunchy at the end.

Now the catch if you want to call it a catch is you should cook this meat for about 2-4 hours depending on how big and thick it is.  BTW you can also cook this meat and refrigerate it for the next day this way you have that hard part done.  This recipe I made it with a 2lb flank steak so it didn’t take that much time to cook.  You will add everything in one pot which is great one pot one dirty pot to clean J

Items needed to make this sandwich:

This will make appx 4 sandwiches

2 lb. flank steak
Sofrito (another recipe you should always have handy)
One can of tomato sauce (small can)
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/2 tsp Onion powder
1 small Red Onions (to top the sandwiches with)
1/2 cup Chopped onions and peppers (I use the frozen one)
Portuguese roll/bread
Provolone or Swiss cheese
Pot to cook your steak in
2 Frying pan
Vegetable oil
Butter

After the meat has cooked I take it out and put it on a cutting board and I cut the meat into strips about 1 ½-2 in wide depending on the size of the steak after it’s cooked.  I drain the liquid and keep a little bit on the side with the veggies in it.

Now let’s make the sandwiches…

Heat up your frying pan while this is warming up put butter on each side of the roll and place on the frying pan butter side down.

In another pan put your onions to sautee with a little bit of olive oil.

Place the cheese on each side of the roll.

Place your steak and onions and some of the veggies in the liquid in the roll put the other side of the roll on top and use something heavy to press on the bread (almost like a Panini).  Flip the bread once you know it’s crunchy toasty.

That’s it! You are done …now eat your delish sandwich …Enjoy
