Crochet Hat and Scarf sets

Hat/Scarf set by Yolanda's Creations
So I know when I go to a store and I see a hat and scarf set I see mostly knitted (factory knitted) sets.  I wish I would see more crochet sets.  I say this because I feel it would give customers more of choice in style from a crocheting perspective.  But hey it’s ok more room for me to make my own …right? You know my mother knits and crochets and no matter how much I want to I never do it…knit! I find it too difficult to hold my knitting needles.

Anyway here I am showing you a few of my sets that I have enjoyed making in the past and recently.  I also make the crochet fingerless gloves as well to go with them if people request them when they order from me.  But for the most part I just do the hat and scarf set.

My creations are made with 100% acrylic yarn that I have purchased at AC Moore or Michaels.   I add fringes on some and most I don’t.  I also start working on my sets more or less around summer time to have them ready by mid-September just in time for the fall.  I would say for me to make one set it would take me (non-stop) about 1 week and depending on how long you want your scarf and/or how wide or long you want you hat I would say make sure you have at least 3-4 skeins of yarn.  I can tell you for the two I am showing here it took 3.

Here’s my message to you…keep me in mind when the weather gets cold, look for one of my creations that will keep you warm and trendy and it’s crochet.

My cold weather hat and scarf sets will keep you warm and ensure you look stylish even as the temperature get a bid too much to handle (burrrr … cold).  My sets are machine washable and I prefer to line dry my hats .

Accessorize with a scarf...

I have seem some ladies wearing cute scares that are either as simple a single crochet chain to maybe a one inch wide scarf wrapped around their neck...talk about cute!

I have made a couple here and there and come to find out after I've made a few that I could've been a little more creative😃

What I mean by this is that I could've put beads for example or even buttons or ribbon. So the ones I am showing here are just a simple double or 1/2 double crochet pattern...nothing super fancy. Remember you want your outfit to stand out and the scarf just adds to that. I like to wear mine with a long seed bead necklace and a couple of bangle bracelets if I'm going out and of course it's a cool evening or afternoon that it will compliment the outfit and time of day.

As always my dear people...be creative and don't let anyone tell you that you can't make something that is simple yet cute! Things don't have to be complicated.

Have fun making these! Happy crocheting!!!

Crochet Skinny Scarf...

color:Torqua
acrylic yarn
So a while ago I started making these to give as gifts for the holidays.  I have a lot of nieces and this was one item that I figured hey I can make quickly and make several and give as gifts (along with some jewelry that I made).

I even saw on line someone had crochet these beautiful flower skinny scarves and I was so intrigued by it that I made some of those.  Again, not knowing exactly how this person made them I just tried to improvise.  The one I saw online was no where near what I created but hey that’s why I consider myself to be a  freestyle crocheterJ.

The ones I made with flowers I used the Aunt Lydia’s #3 thread to crochet with.  I purchased all of my colors from JoAnn’s Fabric eventually but my first couple which you see here I purchased from AC Moore.  I made these in simple flower patterns and sewed them each by hand.  I actually enjoyed making these crocheted skinny scarf because you can actually wear it almost like a necklace and it’s delicate and feminine.  I totally feel it adds versatility to your spring or summer wardrobe even in the fall.  I did make some in the Sugar and Cream Cotton yarn (the one shown is called Robins Egg) as well and you know something these you can always find at AC Moore or Michaels whatever is convenient for you to go and shop at.

The long crocheted scarves measure about 70" long. I also made a few with a soft 100% acrylic yarn (Frosty Green Fleck and Torqua is by Red Heart).

I always say you know if you know that someone loves to accessorize why not give them little tokens like this sort of scarf? It will go a long way…have fun crocheting!

Oh and BTW I recommended to hand wash in mild detergent and lay flat to dry.
